Creswick Neighbourhood Centre goes solar!
Hepburn Wind has teamed up with our energy retailer Powershop and MASH, a project organised by Castlemaine based not-for-profit, Hub Foundation, to donate and install solar on the Creswick Neighbourhood Centre.
The Creswick Neighbourhood Centre was identified by Hepburn Wind as an ideal candidate for this energy initiative because of their ongoing work with the local community. This $5,000 project has been funded by our energy retailer – Powershop’s Your Community Energy Initiative.
The 3.24kW solar system is expected to generate 55% of the energy consumed on site. By using on-site solar power instead of purchasing from the grid, the centre will save hundreds of dollars each quarter. On top of that, when the sun is shining and the building is empty, they will earn income from exporting back to the grid.
The installation was conducted by Solargain, one of Australia’s leading solar companies and supplier to the Hub Foundation’s popular solar-bulk buy, known as MASH. With over 700 solar installations in Central Victoria to date, their work cut’s 3,700 tonnes of CO2 each year. In February next year, MASH will launch in the Hepburn Shire and help households contribute to a 100% renewable energy shire.
Hepburn Wind is committed to transitioning our region to zero-net energy and households play an important role in making a cleaner and more efficient energy system. We will be teaming up with MASH to ensure as many households as possible can benefit from their program.
