When seventeen year old Hana Savidge-Walker’s dad bought her shares in Hepburn Wind it was an auspicious occasion for several reasons.
For Hana, a year 11 student from Bullarto, it was an opportunity to show her support for a cause that she is passionate about.
“I think that it is great to support local steps towards renewable energy. It is the way of the future and I am very excited to be supporting it.” Hana said.
For Hepburn Wind it was the achievement of an important goal. “We had a goal to register at least 500 members and Hana’s membership is the 1000th.” Simon Holmes à Court, Chairman of Hepburn Wind said.
“Hana and her father are a great example for other communities that we can work together at the local level to mitigate dangerous climate change.” Simon added. “Many grandparents have bought shares on behalf of their grandchildren, and some families even have three generations of shareholders.”
Hepburn Wind’s executive officer Jack Gilding added “Hana’s application comes at the end of a spectacular month for us. A further 74 members registered in October bringing us to a total of 1,010. Applications received in October totalled $156,250.”
